  • Approved the creation of a Managing Attorney position within the City Attorney’s office, who will specialize in labor and employment.
  • Received a presentation on the 2024 city budget change items.
    • Police and fire departments’ overtime are running higher than last year.
    • The city has added two positions to lead Climate Legacy Initiative work – the Climate Legacy Initiative director in the Health Department and a project coordinator in the Office of Public Safety. There is an update on the work scheduled for a November Climate & Infrastructure Committee meeting.
    • Council Members Cashman, Chavez, Chughtai and Koski expressed disappointment that the $2 million that the council allocated for pay equity for AFSCME workers had not been acted upon yet.
