The Southeastern San Diego Community lies south of the Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway (state Route 94), west of Interstate 805, east of Interstate 5, and shares a border with National City. Southeastern San Diego includes the neighborhoods of Sherman Heights, Logan Heights, Grant Hill, Memorial, Stockton, Mount Hope, Mountain View, Southcrest and Shelltown.

The group meets on the second Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. The meetings are held at the Mountain View Community Center, 641 South Boundary Street.

In September 2022, the City Council approved changes to Council Policy 600-24, which defines the roles, responsibilities, and standard operating procedures of Planning Groups. These changes focused on improving transparency, broadening community representation, and reflecting Planning Groups’ legal status as independent organizations, consistent with the City Charter.
