• The council adopted the proposed government structure ordinance, as amended. This is an initial approval of the language of the ordinance to be submitted for the public hearing, not a final approval of the ordinance.
• A public hearing will be held regarding the ordinance on October 18 at 1:30 PM at Committee of the Whole.
• The council approved a $6,000 retention incentive for non-union police officers. (The incentive was approved for MPD union officers in the federation contract.)
• After a prolonged delay, the council approved the nomination of Barret Lane as Director of Emergency Management.
• The council received the nomination of Brian O’Hara as Chief of Police and referred the nomination to the Public Health and Safety Committee. The date for the public hearing is not yet set and will be established by the committee.
