• Received a presentation on the city’s Climate Legacy Initiative. More than a dozen people spoke during public comment, emphasizing the need for faster implementation and for funding to be made available to renters, not just homeowners.

  • The Climate Legacy Initiative is the first part of the city’s Climate Equity Plan, which aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions citywide by 2050.

• Received a presentation on a recent city study on winter walking and biking. City staff will also host an online open house on April 11 at 6pm to present the study and answer questions from the public.

  • Staff recommendations include moving forward with these previously proposed pilot programs:
  • Snow ambassador pilot
  • Mobile team pilot
  • Snow case worker pilot
  • Senior snow clearing assistance pilot
  • For biking, they also recommend:
  • Expand 311 dashboard tracking for bikeway incidents
  • Evaluate ways to improve winter maintenance of bike racks/storage

• Set a public hearing for April 18 to consider the mayor’s nomination of Timothy Sexton to be Director of Public Works.

• Continued a public hearing regarding 11th Avenue South resurfacing to the committee’s May 2 meeting.
